About this calculator

Source of truth

The calculator implements Miss. Code Ann. § 43-19-101 (the presumptive percentage-of-income guideline) and § 43-19-103 (the ten statutory deviation criteria). It produces a worksheet showing the AGI computation, presumptive award, threshold findings, and any deviations the user has elected to apply.

Recent statutory changes

The calculator reflects two relatively recent amendments to Mississippi's child support framework: (1) the 2022 imputation amendment at § 43-19-101(5) (HB 1067), which requires imputed-income findings to rest on specific fact-gathering rather than a default amount; and (2) § 43-19-36 (SB 2082, 2023), which suspends the support obligation by operation of law during incarceration exceeding 180 days, subject to three statutory carve-outs and a means-to-pay exception. Both are wired into the inputs form and the worksheet.

What this does NOT do

  • Alimony or spousal support
  • Retroactive support computations
  • Split parenting (children with different primary custodial parents)
  • Emancipation timing or future child-aging-out projections
  • Any pending amendment to § 43-19-101 (e.g., SB 2505) until enacted

Other states

Calculators for seven Southeastern states are on the state picker, with more planned.
